Puma’s never been shy about getting brash with their designs. From the now banned sleeveless strips to skin-tight cuts, they’ve maintained a refreshing, sometimes brazen flexibility many brands fear. In keeping with that paradigm Puma brings us the Borussia Dortmund 17/18 home kit. Dropping in that trademark ultra fitted cut the jersey is unsurprisingly dominated by yellow while thick, black horizontal lines offer a unique gradient accent. BVB will rock the kits for the remaining two games of their Bundesliga season as well as the DFB Cup final vs Eintracht on May 27th. For the aforementioned games each player will wear a kit which features an individually written, inspirational message from a fan printed on the inside of their respective jersey.

In keeping with their trend for next season, adidas bless us with more retro driven goodness, this time for the mighty FC Bayern Munich. Die Roten’s 2017/18 home kit draws from one of the club’s most iconic strips worn by legends such as Franz Beckenbauer, Uli Hoeness and Gerd Müller during the trophy filled 70’s.

As you’d expect  the kit pays homage to the past but employs a modern fit with the latest tech through breathable fabrics and mesh engineering. The predominantly red jersey is features thin, vertical white stripes with classic three stripes branding on the shoulder. FC Bayern’s motto “Mia San Mia” – roughly translating to “We know where we come from, who we are and what we aim for” – features on the reverse of the kit.

Another added bonus to the launch is a design film in which the adidas Senior Design Director discusses the inspiration behind the kit. It details the innovative fabrics used and the journey from concept to reality. Be sure to check it out below.

By now it’s clear what adidas is doing with the away iterations for their 17/18 away kits. Shalke is the latest club to get the retro treatment as adidas dips back into their early 90’s repertoire for inspiration.  Similar to last week’s Man U drop, Shalke’s 17/18 away kit takes a brazen print from their early 90s past and reworks it into a modern fit. The white strip is accented with a blue crew-neck collar, sleeve cuffs and adidas three-stripe branding. Those 90s vibes come by way of the thick, light-grey markings as seen in Shalke’s iconic 92-93 home shirt.

Tis the season for kit releases. As most of the big leagues across Europe wind down teams/brands are already locked and loaded with kits for next season. Soccer don’t sleep and neither do we so you can expect a tidal wave of unveilings over the next month or so. Next up to bat, the adidas Olympique Lyonnais home and away kits for 2017/18.

First the home. Clean, crispy and classic as they come. The predominantly white, v-neck kit is given a big and beautiful OL badge while the most adias branding is kept minimal as it matches the kit with monochromatic vibes. Bold red and Blue horizontal strips add a nice pop in wrapping up the overall smart look of the kits.

As for the away jerseys, they receive a bit more flair but maintain the overall clean minimalism through rich colors and clean accents. The navy blue strip is given some panache through red horizontal lines that start at the chest and descend in a gradient effect from thin to thick. White adidas three-stripe branding flank the sides adding a frame to the vibrant kits.

The Three-Stripes are really knee deep in that warm nostalgia at the moment. A week ago the Predator Mania’s and now we have more retro fire courtesy of the Manchester United 2017/18 away kit. Inspired by the legendary away kits worn by the Red Devils in 92. Yes, that also happened to be the year the Neville brothers, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and David Beckham embarked on their illustrious trophy filled rise as Manchester United’s golden generation.

As for the kits, an all-over maple leaf looking print hearkens back those iconic 90s shirts but with a sleeker, more modern twist. The form-fitting strips are dominated in varying shades of grey while black accents feature by way of the crew-neck collar and sleeve cuffs. White adidas Three-Stripes branding flank each side while the Man United crest is given a the black and white treatment for a final stroke of class.

Created for an iconic club and its rabid fan base, adidas have officially unveiled the Palmeiras “Green Obsession” kit. The limited edition jersey will compliment the 2017 on-pitch kit of the club, but serve more as shining tribute to their legendary fans. The shirt itself is as clean and crispy as they come. Dominated by a rich green, the accents come by way of a white v-neck collar and three-stripes adidas branding on the flank. Brilliant details come courtesy of an enlarged Palmeiras crest, the words limited edition in gold just beneath and the phrase “Obsessão” (Portuguese for obsession) on the upper-back collar. adi went further by adding a keeper kit which mimics the on-pitch iteration only in purple. It pays homage to the clubs rich tradition of top notch keepers and to the last time the club wan the Brazilian league title.

Sadly for most of us stateside this kit is super limited and only available in Brazil. If you got fam in Brazil might want to give them a holler for this one. For now check out the kit below.

After the success of their collaborative kits with Bayern and Madrid, the adidas X Parley contingent has teamed up with MLS for more incredibly unique kits made from recycled plastic found in the ocean.  As with the previous releases, the initiative serves to raise awareness around the harmful impact of marine plastic pollution. With that in mind, the new MLS white and grey jerseys employ fresh, alternative colorway details. They are crafted from Parley Ocean Plastic upcycled from marine plastic which is intercepted by Parley clean-up operations in coastal areas of the Maldives.  Once collected, the original plastic source is reworked into technical fibers that are re-purposed for use in apparel or footwear. In this particular iteration, the jerseys will be worn by MLS clubs. To commemorate this unique process of re-purposing the aforementioned marine plastic debris, the message “For the Oceans” is featured on the back-neck tape detailing, found inside each jersey.

“Major League Soccer and our clubs are committed to raising awareness about environmental issues through the League’s Greener Goals platform. Off the pitch, we’ll service our local communities as part of MLS WORKS Week of Service leading up to Earth Day, and we’re thrilled to support efforts on the field with adidas and Parley For the Oceans to help create a cleaner, healthier environment.” -JoAnn Neale, Chief Administrative & Social Responsibility Officer, Major League Soccer

The kits will be seen in action as the four teams that participated in the initiative will face-off Sunday, April 23rd when New York City FC host Orlando City SC at Yankee Stadium, and when LA Galaxy welcome reigning MLS Cup champions Seattle Sounders FC at StubHub Center.

Last night the Chicago Red Stars hosted a get-together to honor the launch of their new kits. The Annex marketing agency’s space housed the intimate soiree where artificial turf covered the floors and the Red Stars red/blue team colors lit up the walls. The new kits were proudly displayed alongside artwork and photos of players throughout. Media, friends and fans ate, drank/drank while DJ Step provided hip-hop driven background music. A few Red Star players were on hand to mingle, take photos and even have a small kickabout. Overall, the party was fun, well-executed and fitting. We hope more NWSL teams jump on board with installations like this.

This popped into our inbox today after a back and forth with Eldejo regarding his recently designed #DumpTrump kit. Naturally our jaws dropped and the questions ensued. Sometimes the Who? What? Where? and Why? is really quite simple.  From the man himself:  “It’s a mashup: I took a week 1 Supreme drop, the Acid Wash l/s and added the Arsenal 2003-4 Invincibles season badges with the name/numbering. It’s not a collab and I designed it insofar as adding the badges to it. Seeing the Supreme logo there, it reminded me of a center front sponsor, so I mashed the two together. And……the Invincibles reigned supreme.  Just as Henry was supreme.”
