Last week Umbro quietly released a shiny new paint-job for arguably their best silo. Dropping in “Diva Blue/Astral Aura/White” the latest Medusae’s ooze an undeniable freshness and class. We’ve touted them earlier this year, for their step-up in quality/output and the Double-Diamonds have not disappointed by killing it with this one. The “Diva Blue” offers a slightly metallic vibe that accentuates its K-Leather vamp in a stunningly soft finish. The white is a  throwback to when it used to be the only opposition to boots dominated by black. It offers a more subdued panache, but a classy one at that.

The “Derby Fever” treatment has been given to Cesc Fabregas, Hector Belerin, Santi Carzorla, Antoine Greizman and now, to Marco Reus. Puma have created another limited run of boots inspired by the German superstar and the derby in which he will play in the weekend.  The custom evoSPEED are fittingly split in half by the black and yellow of Borussia Dortmund. Nods to the infamous Signal Iduna “Yellow Wall” via artwork of hands signals, banners and flags. The words “Revierderby” are stitched into the upper part of the toe-box, a subtle nod to the name of the notorious derby between Dortmund and their bitter rivals Shalke. As with every other iteration of the limited drops, a circular ‘Derby Fever’ logo sits near the heel counter. Barring injury, Marco Reus is set to rock these bad boys, one time and one time only in the aforementioned “Revierderby”.

Nike dip back into some tried and true color schemes for the new ‘Motion Blur’ Pack. The latest from the Swoosh is laced with echoes of Euro 2012, when the Nike ‘Clash Pack’ dominated in Ukraine and Poland. Fast forward to 2017  where white and and bright accents thrive once again. The Mercurial Superfly’s are given a gradient “White/Race Pink” paint-job, while the Magista receives a similar fade aesthetic only in a “White/Volt” coat. The Tiempo’s are dominated in white with the color coming by way of “Electro green” on the heel and sole plate. Rounding of the pack is Nike’s crown Jewel, the Hypervenom 3 which receives the most color from a half and half “White/Photo Blue” colorway.

The Nike ‘Motion Blur’ Pack is available now on and select retailers.

Happy Air Max Day everyone! In  honor of this most glorious of days, we ran a special unboxing feature on all of the new soccer silos inspired by the most iconic Air Max’s. The Tiempo, Magista, Mercurial Superfly and Hypervenom 3 were all given an Air Max makeover, check out our videos below for more in depth look at each boot.

Nike Tiempo X Air Max 1: The very first Air Max featuring the game-changing, exposed air cushion meets Nike’s tried and true Tiempo. Two classics seamlessly unite.

Nike Mercurial Superfly X Air Max 90: The birth of Nike’s classic infared joins the built-for-speed Mercurial in a fitting mash-up of timeless and modern.

HypervenomX X Air Max 95: The revolutionary 95’s brought us mesh, a unique layered upper and the birth of Volt. The equally innovative HypervenomX serves as the perfect canvas for a 95 aesthetic.

Nike Magista X Air Max 97: The 97’s brought us copious amounts of 3M and a sole dominated almost entirely of that trademark air. The Magistas avant-garde ethos aptly suits the 97’s vibe.

The Three Stripes pick up where they left off and keep it moving with a vibrant new release. The “Turbocharge” collection harkens back to the launch colorway of the revolutionary Ace 16 + Purecontrol and  adds modern accents for some electric decadence. The stadium or on pitch iteration comes via the adidas 17+ Purecontrol. It features varying shades of green from the glowing neon upper to a gorgeous metallic sole plate. A nearly identical upper and color scheme graces the cage version by way of the ACE 17+ Tango. While the street ACE 17+ gets a grey dominance with minimal light green accents.

All three silos are available now via select retailers and

Last week week got face-to-face with the Concave Volt+ for a ‘Details’ feature. We went over the colorway, supper soft synthetic upper and overall look of the built-for-speed silo. As Concave strives to make a bigger imprint in the soccer boot landscape, the need to offer something different is imperative. Brands spend millions on R&D in order to cultivate progressively functional tech at a mind-numbing frequency. Concave understands this, thus they offer a tech not seen on any other boot outside of their stable. PowerStrike is a simple yet incredibly functional piece of tech. Concave claims it offers up to a 15% increase in shot power. Sometimes photos aren’t enough to get the point across so check out this video explaining Concave’s PowerStrike technology.

So let’s count: The “Blue Blast,” the “Chequered Blac”‘ and the “UCL Dragon” have all dropped for adidas’ two man silos since the beginning of 2017.  The “Paul Pogba” obviously only dropped for the ACE 17+, so we wont count that. But in case you forgot, we are only in March. It’s mind numbing to process but the Three Stripes are reworking their boot arsenal on a monthly basis. Their latest “Grey Camo” pack features on the aforementioned ACE 17+ Purecontrol and X 16+ in an identical, futuristic looking camo print. The limitied release offers varying shades of grey and white giving both pairs of boots a similar icey vibe.

Both the adidas ACE 17+Purecontrol and X 16+ “Grey Camo” are available now on

We’re keeping it moving with our Details features, this time with an up and comer. Concave is a Manchester based brand that has steadily made their mark in a crowded soccer boot landscape with solid design and unique tech.

Concave’s speed silo entitled, The Volt+ features some of the softest synthetic material we’ve ever touched, on a fittingly lightweight upper which is also covered in tiny lightening bolts for grip. The strike zone features Concave’s most obvious and unique tech. The PowerStrike tech essentially, is a reinforced plastic that is said to offer a 15% increase in striking power. The narrow build and overall fit round off a silo built for pacey wingers with an eye for goal

Take a look at all the subtle textures and nuances of the Concave Volt+ in our detailed photos below. Also stay tuned for an Unboxing via our Youtube channel.

According to website Law360 adidas has accused long time rival Puma, of creating and selling a “look-a-like” soccer boot that uses the heavily policed “three-stripes” branding. The German brand has aggressively protected its trademark and recently in an Oregon federal court that claims the Puma  boots are confusingly similar with a four stripe design on the upper. A rep further argued: “Puma is not only a direct competitor, but shares a mutual history with Adidas,” the company wrote. “Puma is thus intimately familiar with adidas’s three-stripe mark and the enormous goodwill it represents.”

The boots in question are the evoPower Vigor 1, specifically the “Camo” iteration in which the four stripes are more prevalent than in other colorways. Check out the boot in question above in the feature picture section. Below are the other colorways that have been released to date. Let us know, does adidas

Following suit with the current trend in offering a more classic colorway to the in-fashion neon glitz of modern soccer boots, Umbro gives the Velocita 3 a subdued stroke of class. The “Astral Aura” is a paradox as it is the Double Diamond’s most tech rich silo with a modest dress. The upper and sole plate are dominated by black with deep plum, while the studs, collar and laces accent the darkness with a vibrant aqua.  Add the timeless, white Double Diamond branding and the boots are arguably Umbro’s best looking of the year so far. Yes we realize it’s only February but we have a hunch these will be tough to top.

As for the tech: A special tri-layer construction on the upper, with Neoprene and air mesh seamlessly blend across the entire boot giving the player touch within a silo built for speed. A modern sock-like collar is added for extra stability as well.  Lastly, the “if it aint broke, don’t fix it” paradigm applies to the sole plate as it remains unchanged from it’s predecessor.
